Welcome to our dreamy new bedroom—she’s a beauty.
We officially started living in our master bedroom addition back in February (yes, I know… timely blog updates are my superpower). I snapped these photos that same month and then, naturally, never actually shared them. Classic.

Speaking of real life—please ignore the mysterious smudges on the footboard. One unnamed dog believes the bed is his personal face-rub station, and I didn’t realize just how much “love” he left behind until after the photos were taken. Could I have retaken them? Sure. Did I? Absolutely not. Six months later, there are new smudge masterpieces anyway. So here we are. Done > perfect. Right?
Even with dog goobers, this room has quickly become my favorite space in the entire house. My kids keep trying to drag toys in here and I’m like, “Sweeties, I love you—but absolutely not.” The door locks. Bliss.
The design is simple and calm, and honestly, I’m in no rush to add anything else. The contrast trim alone feels like decor. (For paint lovers: trim is Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog in SW Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel. I’m convinced it’s magic. Smooth, self-leveling, and gorgeous.)
With three kids, the house often feels like it’s bursting at the seams—paper piles, snack trails, and toy armies everywhere. Having one peaceful, clutter-free space? Life-changing. A tiny sanctuary just for Ryan and me.
Now let’s talk furniture. Are you ready?
The bed and nightstands—Walmart. Yes. Walmart. The My Texas House Anna Upholstered Bed (king!) was under $400 and it’s honestly stunning. The matching nightstands came in around $150 each and feel so solid. The textured linen? Chef’s kiss.
Bedding was courtesy of Target + gift cards + me awkwardly pushing two red carts at once. Worth it.

On the opposite wall, we have our closet setup—basically two six-foot reach-in closets. And before anyone asks: no bifold doors. I refuse. Every bifold door I’ve ever encountered has betrayed me. The ones in our house included. So we skipped them. Freedom at last!
We used Menards rebates (praise be) to build out the closet system inside—drawers, shelves, hanging space, everything. I would show you photos, but the inside of my closet currently gives me hives. Just trust that it works beautifully, even without a dresser.
The windows are another highlight. The natural light is ridiculous (trust me when I say it’s better than it appears in my photos). We added simple roller shades that don’t compete with the view. Most afternoons you’ll find me and Ryan curled up in here—reading, scrolling, napping, hiding from our children… the usual. We brought the nursery rocker in and it fits perfectly. Owen was mildly offended, but he’s handling it.
Could I add art or a console table? Sure. Will I? TBD. For now, I’m loving how uncluttered and intentional everything feels. It’s exactly what we use, exactly what we need—nothing extra to collect chaos.
And that concludes the grand tour of our peaceful retreat. We feel incredibly grateful to have created this little oasis, and our kids love having their new rooms too. Maybe I’ll share those in the next decade. No promises.
Until then… thanks for visiting our cozy corner of sanity.
